Application procedure for “Chief Executive Election Civil Referendum 2017back


 
How to become a civil candidate of the “Chief Executive Election Civil Referendum 2017”:
  1. From 16 to 31 January 2017, any person can indicate his intention to be a civil candidate of the “2017 CE Election Civil Referendum” by sending a “Letter of Intent” to POP by post.

  2. Mailing address: Room 706, 7/F, The Jockey Club Tower, Centennial Campus, The University of Hong Kong, Pokfulam, Hong Kong (Please indicate on the envelope “Chief Executive Election Civil Referendum 2017”)

  3. POP will only accept postal of “Letter of Intent”, date of the stamp chop will be used as the submission date.

  4. POP will contact all persons who have declared their intention to stand for the official 2017 CE election at a certain time on 4 February 2017 to complete the relevant registration procedures of being a civil candidate. The venue will be notified.

  5. All persons invited must go to the assigned place in person with the following documents on 4 February 2017:
    1. Identification document, to prove one is a Chinese citizen of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of not less than 40 years of age

    2. A signed “declaration”, proving one has no right of abode in any foreign country and has ordinarily resided in Hong Kong for a continuous period of not less than 20 years

    3. A “nomination form”, proving one has gained nominations from at least 100 permanent citizens of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region aged 18 years or above.
      (According to article 44 of The Basic Law: “The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region shall be a Chinese citizen of not less than 40 years of age who is a permanent resident of the Region with no right of abode in any foreign country and has ordinarily resided in Hong Kong for a continuous period of not less than 20 years.”)


  6. After confirmation from the organizer, all persons who have completed the relevant registration procedures of being a civil candidate will be included in the civil nomination system and to become a civil candidate of the “2017 CE Election Civil Referendum”.

  8. Starting from 7 February 2017, residents can nominate one person from all civil candidates to become an official Civil Candidate of the “2017 CE Election Civil Referendum” via mobile app or webpage. Details will be announced later.
